Torpenhow named their Red Leicester-style cheese after Binsey, the northernmost of the ‘Wainwrights’ Lake District fells and the closest to Park House Farm.
Binsey Red is a firm cheese well-suited to slicing and grating or just enjoying a generous chunk on your favourite cracker.
The sweet, nutty long-lasting flavour of Binsey Red lends itself well to pairing with chutneys and pickles, and it will happily hold its own alongside strong companions such as spicy chilli or raw onion – as you can probably gather, we consider it a prime candidate for inclusion in a classic ploughman’s lunch!
Like all of their cheeses, it is made in the Park House Farm dairy using only fresh organic milk from their Jersey Friesian herd and matured in whole wheels in their cold storage barn before being cut to order.
Ingredients: Organic cow’s milk, vegetable rennet, culture, salt, annatto natural colouring

The Torpenhow Cheese Company was formed at Park House Farm near the village of Torpenhow on the northern edge of the Lake District, Cumbria, in 2019, with the aim to turn the rich organic milk from our Jersey/Friesian herd into creamy deep-flavoured cheese.
Our family are definite cheese lovers and when we began our organic conversion we thought it was time to share our passion with others, so we converted an old hay barn opposite the farmhouse into a dairy and learned the craft of making cheese and butter.
