Alpacaly Ever After

Book Your Adventure Today

Alpacaly Ever After are an award-winning social enterprise that rehomes and rescues alpacas and llamas from all across the UK. We aim to give them a wonderful new home with the very best of care. Our home at Basecamp helps us to bring people in touch with the landscape and the natural world through outstanding alpaca and llama experiences, accessible to all and surrounded by the beauty of the Lake District World.

Meet the Alpacas

Social Enterprise

Alpacas and llamas are wonderful animals to spend time with. They work particularly well with children and vulnerable adults due to their calm, curious nature, individual and humorous personalities and of course their appealing appearance!

Spending time with them:

  • Reduces stress and provides a respite from day-to-day ongoing concerns.
  • Improves empathy as we learn to understand the needs of another being.
  • Improves impulse control by highlighting the need to be aware of our behaviour, its effects, and how to adapt ourselves accordingly.
  • Builds trust and confidence – camelids respond to calm, confident interaction with humans and to see this effect in action helps foster self-esteem.
  • Reconnects humans with nature in an accessible way, that attracts groups who would not otherwise be attracted to outdoor activities.
  • Promotes physical exercise among groups that would not ordinarily be enthusiastic about it, and acts as a catalyst for positive change.
  • Facilitates walking as therapy, allowing conversations to flow that can be difficult in more formal settings.

Community Garden

The Alpacaly Ever After Community Garden project is run by our Garden Coordinator Mel who works with us on Tuesday and Wednesday, volunteering days are usually open on one of these days a week. Our hope for the garden is to make it as accessible as possible for anyone who wants to get involved, so even if you have no prior experience with gardening but would like to give it a go then don’t hesitate to get in touch. If you have any disability or mobility requirements then again please reach out to us to discuss how we can best accommodate. At this stage of the project we aren’t able to facilitate the involvement of children under 16 however this is a long term goal of ours 🙂

We’ve had an amazing start with several superstar wonderful humans offering their time and effort into getting the initial beds laid and we’ve got big plans for the future, so if you’re interested in joining our community garden please contact us at:
